08-11-2008 Soilwork

Supports: Ananta, One Way Mirror; Venue: Bibelot, Dordrecht (Netherlands)
By: Sabine van Gameren

Soilwork is on tour again. The band brought two supports, One Way Mirror and Ananta. The last one was replacing Zimmers hole, which was forced to cancel their participation with this tour due to circumstances. Today they played in Bibelot, Dordrecht (Netherlands).

Bibelot started to get a bit filled already when Ananta was entering the stage. This French band was kind of letting me down yesterday (LINK), but today the sound was better. The atmosphere in the audience was way more relaxed than the night before, people just wanted to watch tonight. It was better to see the band tonight, since the music came much closer to the audience in a proper way.

One Way Mirror was the second band, just like yesterday. The band consists of members of various other bands. For them counts as well that the sound was better and it felt like the band was a bit more playful on stage. Besides metal core there are some interesting influences of other genres as well. They stitched everything together hearing a industrial-nu-core marriage, like the old albums of Velcra, blending with the metal sounds. They seem to entertain their selves just as much as they entertain ethe audience during their show.
They ended their set with “Relax” which is a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

It took quite a while before everything on stage was ready for Soilwork. The stage in Bibelot is lower than the stage in Melkweg, so the band had the opportunity to be much closer to the fans, which they took advantage of. The band started this tour to be on stage again with guitarist Peter Wichers who quitted the band before, but rejoined. The old fans were visible happy to see him back there and the talking about him was there in front of the venue already until the very few seconds before the start of their performance. The band got a moshpit starting and although it was less intense as the day before a very friendly, cozy atmosphere was there.
The band played the same setlist as the day before, which will be included here:

Sworn to a great devide
as we speak
needlefast
exile
bastard chain
the bringer
one with the flies
20 more miles
overload
as the sleeper awakes
black star deceiver
the chainheart Machine
Stabbing The Drama
