Releasedate: 12-05-2023 Label: Napalm Records
Devildriver is an American Groove Metal formation that has been around since 2003. The band has released a bunch of albums alread and now it is ready for the release of number 10. It is “Dealing With Demons Vol. II” a follow up from the previous release that deals with the same theme.
The band has had a couple of line up changes compared to volume I, but the guys have managed to get the album be a good follow up on it. The band does exactly what you expect from them. A good variation in tempo, groove all over and passionate lyrics that will address many listeners at a personal level.
It has a catchy feel but not by going into a shiny, commercial direction. The band maintains a proper dose of vehemence all over their tracks and have a smart way of setting up their songs. Giving you some time to catch on here and there, while going intense on other moments but yet let it all come together pretty nicely.
Looking at the highlights of the release you could go to the powerful track “Mantra” which is placed early in the tracklist, but also the dynamic “If Blood Is Life” is one that will catch the attention at any live show.
Altogether, this release of Devildriver fits perfectly in line of expectations, maybe it is not an album with many surprises, but brought with proper quality like they did this album is a joy to listen to.
