Everybody knows the song „Bittersweet Symphony“, one of my favorite songs ever since. “Bitter Sweet Symphony” is a song by The Verve, an English rock band formed in Wigan, Greater Manchester in 1989 at Winstanley Sixth Form College, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury. The band has a long biography including a break-up and a reunion after about 8 years which would be too long and off topic to tell here. So back to the main topic I actually wanted to tell you about: Their new and fourth studio album.
The Verve is known for their unique sound and Richard Ashcroft for his great voice. The album sounds quite psychedelic, very melodic and thriving. I am sure it get you moving, if not you physically then at least your mind, drifting off to a dream world opening your horizon, simply by the sounds. At times the music reminds of Coldplay, and sometimes even of Placebo, but all in all it is still The Verve, unique and special in its music and sounds. I somehow think this album is very positive with lots of hope and many ambitions, power and good vibrations which are shared with the listener. I really love the album just as much as I love the band. Good that they found back together and I hope we will get to hear more from them soon.
