Wicca are back! The old-school thrash metal band from the Lake of Constance (DE) is back in town.

Formed in the early 80’s Wicca provided support to larger bands such as Messiah, Chroming Rose, Accuser to name but a few. In 1989 Wicca released their debut album “Splended Deed” and their notoriety started to grow within the thrash metal community. Following pressure due to a failed record deal with Virgin Records, Wicca took a long pause of reflection.

Fortunately Wicca re-released a remastered version of the album back in 2007 under the korean label ‘Bleeding Chainsaw Records’ and their popularity took a peak again which led to supporting bands like Jaguar and NWOBHM-Legend as well as resuming performing gigs in Germany and Switzerland. It was only a matter of time for Wicca to release a new album. So, finally in 2010 their new album “Bloodrush” was out. And this is where the story continues….Metalvetia, located in Herisau a small provincial town in Switzerland. Although a relatively small venue, Metalvetia is known to be the place to be for hardcore metalbangers, no surprise Wicca decided to perform there.The venue was the perfect choice for this band, the sound and the lights were great and the atmosphere typical of heavy metal culture, combined with Wicca’s speed and fast sound and we got the perfect match. Wicca’s pounding riffs, very intense from start to finish did not disappoint the audience, eager to have more! “I.O.U”, “Disneyland” and “It’s Enough” got the crowd crazy and between a ‘prost’ and a ‘zum wohl’, beer spilling and metal sound Wicca gave an exquisite performance.

The only cons is that Metalvetia was not full and this is a shame because Wicca deserved more audience, their music had to strain more necks!
Rumour has it that Wicca are back in the recording studio, third album coming out soon?! “Yes” says Olymp (vocals), likely at the end of 2011 when they will also be ready with a new video!
