27-03-2022 Kristoffer Gildenlöw

Location: Willemeen, Arnhem (Netherlands)

Kristoffer Gildenlöw as an artist got known for his work with Pain of Salvation and Kayak. But also under his own name he has been actively releasing albums. Time to bring these on the road and play some in Willemeen, Anhem (The Netherlands)

On a sunny Sunday, soon after shows started happening again this show came up and luckily could take place. Not a whole lot of people found their way to Willemeen today yet, but with the ones who showed up Kristoffer found a dedicated audience that listened to his music with full attention.

The songs we got to hear have all a gloomy feel over them. Dark, but calm. The 2021 release “Let Me Be A Ghost” was present quite well. With his band, which got introduced during the set he plays the songs with passion. In between telling a few words here and there about them. Modestly the band fills in the music around Kristoffer. With some special attention to the guitars, which are filling in so nicely and skillfully but remain in the background  during the performance.

Melancholy is all over the tracks and towards the end of the set some unrecorded material gets played as well. “Falling, Floating, Sinking” right at the beginning of the set jumps out but set to “I Cried Today” from the 2020 release “Homebound” speaks greatly as well.

It is unfortunate that not too many people found their way back to the venues just yet, for they missed out on a pretty, emotional and melancholic set. Kristoffer has no current solo dates published right now, but said to be planning some autumn shows. In the meantime some Kayak shows are planned. Don’t miss out on those shows as it is announced as their last tour.
