06-07-2007 Malle Pietje & de Bimbo’s

Supports: Melomanics, Aux Raus; venue: Bibelot
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Melomanics recently released their latest album “The Grey Light”.   Before this, they were known of their red suits which they worn every gig. With the new album, a change of style appeared. I think I kind of spoiled the surprise by telling the albums name, which colour their new outfits are. Grey, of course.
Besides the grey suits they wear, they also brought some grey wooden versions of them to decorate the stage. The Dutch electro rockers were about to play in an area they haven’t been that often before. And so come the venue is still a little abandoned when the
clock reached the time where Melomanics suppose to start. When they start, half an hour later then planned, some people wanted to see it from a distance. Soon that changes to a place where many people were dancing to the nice beats from Melomanics. The point of change was when they played an ACDC cover “Thunderstruck”. From there on, people got the essence of the music and enjoy the show.

When Melomanics were finished, the hardcore act Aux Raus was about to enter the stage. When they started, I felt like the stage was pretty big for just the guitarist and the singer. My second thoughts were more realistic. It is hardcore, so there should be quite some action! And it was. The stage seems to be too small actually. The singer jumped of the stage several times and joined the audience while singing. For those who like hardcore music, you definitely have to see this band on the Lowlands festival. The Melomanics are also playing on this festival. So, this was actually sort of a sneak preview evening. It seems like the audience already knew Aux Raus since they were having a great time.

As final act, Malle pietje & de Bimbo’s were about to play this evening. What can I say about it… It didn’t attract me at all. Their music is a combination of metal and pop. Two so-called-babes and a drummer which are probably all very talented, but I just could not find any potential in it. One look behind me learned me enough. Most of the audience did not like it either. What can I say, totally no reason to stay any second longer. I left the venue to avoid that I got aggressive of music which bores me that much.
