Moonspell – Hermitage

Label: Napalm Records
Releasedate: 26-02-2021

The Portuguese band Moonspell does not really need an introduction. The guys have been on top of their game for many years. Anno 2021 the band has a new album to release. It is called “Hermitage” and it is available from 26th of February.

Album number thirteen of Moonspell it is. The band has proven to be diverse through the years, bringing a lot of variety in their discography, not one album being too much like another. Also “Hermitage” is bringing a bit of a different sound. What is taking the spotlight in this release are the guitars, a progressive edge is there. The atmosphere is a bit calm and held back, so the listener has the time to focus on all that. With the vocals being a bit mysterious and only going in full passion on well thought moments, you may find yourself enjoying it most.

Most passionate track is the song called “The Hermit Saints”, which has some remarkable moments. One of the tracks that stays by most after listening to the album, but album opener “The Greater Good” is also one that stood out. It shows all you can expect from the album in one song. The intimate moments, the powerful moments and everything in between.

Maybe Moonspell is not the band that gives you always what you expect, but that is exactly why they are getting succes with each album they bring upon the market. The playfulness and the ability to innovate within their own identity is golden and with “Hermitage” the band has shown us once again that no matter how many years go by and how many albums they drop, they can still amaze the listeners.
