Intro
Let me introduce to you: Panda Lux. Panda who, you ask? Panda Lux is a Swiss indie band consisting of four multi-talented musicians, all in their mid-twenties. In 2018, they have released their debut album “Versailles”. Now, they are releasing their sophomore album going by the name of “Fun Fun Fun” on their own label.
Review
The album comes with fifteen songs and lasts for almost one hour, all lyrics are in German. And let me tell you, this is one hell of an interesting album. Why? Well, because each song is so entirely different, it is amazing that all these songs are by the same band. Some songs are quite indie pop, while others are very electronica-like. But you can also find some jazz-like tunes, or even oriental vibes in the songs.
As I said, the album is quite diverse. The lyrics are just as odd at times, almost seeming like the band is singing about nonsense to make fun of a certain trend or lifestyle. But that is for you to decide, or leave it entirely up to the band. And the choruses are oddly catchy as well. With all these different sounds and vibes, the album still easily fades in with the background but will somehow still dig into your subconscious. However, the arrangements are all smooth and mellow, with soft vocals with no major volume or speed changes within a song.
All in all, this album is one of a kind. “Fun Fun Fun” is by mid-twenties for mid-twenties. Panda Lux uses the current hip language of the youth, mentioning their main worries, thoughts and lifestyle. In short, this Panda Lux release is a perfect reflection of what is going on with today’s mid-twenties. Enjoy!
