Label: The Sign Records
Dictator Ship is a rock’n’roll band, hailing from Sweden. After joining ranks with The Sign Records earlier this year, the band is now ready to release their debut album “Your Favorites”, out this month.
“Your Favorites” is all about that powerful rock’n’roll sound, bringing the 60s and the 70s with elements from soul and even a little bit of punk. The album is dynamic right from the start with In The Heat of the Night and never loses its pace for one moment. The songs are short and right on the spot, just how they should be! From the vocals to the dynamic drumming, all of the songs offer quite a colorful and entertaining dynamic! So get ready to go back in time, headbang and even dance!
One big highlight of “Your Favorites” is this collaborative force of the four band members. Each band member contributes to the vocal duties and this shows in the overall arrangements and production, making the album multi-dimensional yet simplistic. I loved the fact that the guys did not overdo it but just went along with the flow and so the album has this smooth and organic approach, and you will find yourself wanting more of this fine rock’n’roll! I also gotta add that I got some soundtrack-vibes from “Your Favorites” which made me smile and dream!
It is not so often that I listen to albums that flow from the beginning to the end…so kudos to these Swedes from Dictator Ship for this fantastic rock’n’roll! Definitely recommended to the fans of the 60s/70s and rock’n’roll in general.
