Venue: Texas bar, Helsinki (Finland)
By: Nina Mende
After a sunny day on the island in front of Helsinki and in the parks in Helsinki we went to Texas. Not the state but the bar which is located next to the railway station.
Texas is a bar more like a pub, the upper floor is a restaurant and downstairs you have a bar section where you can sit and chat, an outside section for the warm summer nights and another bar section where the stage and a little dance floor are located at. The stage is quite small and the light is not too good, but the entrance is free and little bands get a chance to play in front of audience.
Tonight Danny Lips played there with two other bands. We missed the one and were drinking and chatting through the last one, so my deepest apologizes to them. I only made some pictures of the last band, so I guess they will forgive me. But we watched the complete show of Danny Lips. Danny Lips is a Finnish band consisting of four guys. They sing in English and they have an EP released called “Freefall” but they already have several great new songs and are going their way with big steps.
Anyways, they started at about 11:30 pm. There were not too many people on the dance floor but many people sitting around, holding their glasses and watching the show. Danny Lips played not only songs off their EP, but also some new songs. Despite the fact that they told me about their nervousness and some technical difficulties that might appear you could not see and hear neither of it. Their performance was quite professional and good. The guests of Texas were cheering and applauding. More and more people entered the dance floor and came over watching. The band did not talk too much with the audience but nobody cared. Danny Lips rocked Texas – the bar, not the state, and we rocked with them! Give it up for Danny Lips, a band that we all will hear off in the future!
