07-09-2010 Murderdolls

Venue: Batschkapp, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

It’s been 7 years since the Murderdolls played in Frankfurt fort he last time. And today they started out their Germany tour here.

There were quite some people waiting outside already before doors opened. Most people wore Murderdolls or Slipknot shirts. Everybody seemed full of excitement to see the band again. Many people looked familiar from various Wednesday13 shows in the past years.

Inside the stage was already set up and people rushed to the front. Surprised and some even annoyed by the country music that was being played. Personally, I have to admit, I could even sing along to some of the songs, therefore I enjoyed the “waiting music” whereas some actually were so annoyed that they went outside until the show began. The venue filled up slowly but surely and by the time the Murderdolls went on stage it was even crowded. Murderdolls is an American horror punk supergroup, founded during 2002 in Hollywood, California. The band line-up consists of core members Wednesday 13 and Joey Jordison. Former members include Ben Graves, Acey Slade, Eric Griffin & Tripp Eisen.
To date the band has released two albums, the first in the form of “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls” which was released in 2002. The band had limited initial success in the United States, though their album and singles charted well in the United Kingdom and around the same time they picked up a strong following in Japan. Their second album, “Women and Children Last”, was released August 31, 2010. And now they toured Europe with it.

Without an opening act Murderdolls came on straight away. Joey Jordison came on stage with a knight’s helmet and all of them wore makeup. Wednesday even had his teeth painted. They played a good mix of old and new songs with their fans going insane. There was a mosphit going on, everybody was moving and most people were also singing along. There were many metal fans and gothic people in the audience. The singer Wednesday talked a lot with the audience. The guys rocked around on stage, Wednesday13 and Joey Jordison sat down on stage quite some times during the songs. They also drank quite some hard liquor on stage, not only the Jägermeister the Mad Manager brought them up on stage closer to the end of the performance. The fans could not only sing along to all the old songs but also to most of the new songs. It was an amazing performance, a little bit creepy from time to time but more amazing than anything else. The show itself lasted for about an hour plus an encore of four songs. It was an amazing show. Murderdolls are back, just awesome and breathtaking. Speechless and simply amazed everybody left for home.
