20-07-2010 Papa Roach

Supports: Heavens Basement, Dear Superstar; Venue: Z-Bau, Nuremberg (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Papa Roach is hitting Europe again, but not alone. Heaven’s Basement and Dear Superstar support them when rocking the masses. Tonight they played in Nuremberg. The club they were supposed to play in originally had a water damage so the show was reallocated to a smaller club.

As I arrived there were already many fans waiting outside to get in. Most of them wore Papa Roach shirts. It was still two hours till show time though. The only reason why I was early was because we did an interview with Dear Superstar.
Anyway, as doors opened the first people started running to the front row to not leave it till the last song of the night was sung.

The venue looked like a gym that was only today set up for a concert. The first band came on at 8pm sharp. Hailing from the industrial wastelands of Manchester (UK), gutter rock ‘n rollers Dear Superstar combine their passion for 80s hard rock with the power and bile of modern metal. In their 30 minutes show time they tried their best to get the crowd going. The venue was totally crowded but more and more people kept coming. Most people in the audience seemed to know Dear Superstar and were able to sing along to some of the songs. The stage was a little small and deterred the band from moving around too much. The guys tried their best to still move around and not fall off the stage though. The singer encouraged the audience and their fans to scream and cheer out loud, clap and jump along and go wild. Almost everybody did. They sounded a bit like a mix between Murder FM and Hardcore Superstar, quite nice. The show was way too short, but there were still two other bands to come. So off they went.

Up next was Heaven’s Basement. Heaven’s Basement is a British hard rock & heavy metal band formed in 2008. The group features 3 former members of Hurricane Party/Roadstar (a UK hard rock band, active from 2003-2007). The cheering was not as loud as it had been for Dear Superstar but the audience still went along to the rock music of Heaven’s Basement. Their show lasted for about 45 minutes. The light was not too good. The sound was ok, though. They rocked the stage and their fans along with them.

Last band of the night was Papa Roach. Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Their first major-label release was the triple-platinum debut album “Infes”t (2000). The group’s success continued with their gold album “Lovehatetragedy” (2002), their platinum album “Getting Away with Murder” (2004) and “The Paramour Sessions” (2006). Their latest album, “Metamorphosis”, was released on March 24, 2009. The band’s new live album, “Time for Annihilation”, will be released on August 31, 2010. Papa Roach has sold more than 10 million album copies worldwide, and are known for their hits “Last Resort”, “Scars”, “Forever”, and “Lifeline”, among others. Even though they had a little more room on stage than the bands before it was still not room enough for Papa Roach to rock it properly. Jacoby kept on using the photopit as stage extension. He was so hyped up he almost fell off the stage or other things he climbed on several times. The audience went wild with Papa Roach rocking the stage, everybody sang and rocked along, not missing out on a single second of the show. The Californians put up an extremely awesome show getting the venue so hot that everybody was soaked in sweat afterwards. Papa Roach played songs off all albums, all their hits and even their new single “Kick In The Teeth”. Their show lasted for a little over an hour. Everybody enjoyed it big time.
