Supports: Halestorm, Heaven’s Basement; Venue: Batschkapp, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
Tonight we were at the Batschkapp in Frankfurt to see Theory Of A Deadman. Support acts were Halestorm and Heaven’s Basement. There were many people waiting outside for the doors to open already.
The venue was crowded as we went inside. Several people wore band shirts. As Halestorm came on stage, the audience was cheering out loud, all ready to rock. Halestorm is an American hard rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania. The group is currently signed with Atlantic Records and released their self-titled, major label debut album in April 2009. Halestorm has a female vocalist. her style was very rocking and she seemed quite tall. Her voice was smoky and rocking. The performance was very energetic and Halestorm got the audience going along very well. The songs were catchy and rocking. The singer jumped around on stage a lot and animated everybody to join. At the end of one song they put some drums to the front of the stage so the entire band could drum on it. After about 30 minutes they were done. |
Up next was Heaven’s Basement. Heaven’s Basement are a British hard rock & heavy metal band formed in 2008. The group feature 3 former members of Hurricane Party/Roadstar (A U.K Hardrock band active from 2003-2007). Rocking and powerful they heated up the venue big time. Everybody jumped and sang along, clapped and shouted. Heaven’s Basement performed like big professionals on stage The bass player reminded me a little bit of Sid Vicious. The songs were catchy and you simply could not stand still while watching them rock out on stage. Heaven’s Basement played for about half an hour as well, including a guitar solo and a song where one of the guitar player sang. |
Last band of the night was Theory Of A Deadman. Theory of a Deadman, often known as TOAD, is a Canadian rock band from Delta, British Columbia, formed in 2001. The band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records as well as Island Records. The band also includes traits of other music styles, such as country and acoustic, as well as their post-grunge and alternative rock base. Theory Of A Deadman was slower than the bands before, but their performance was just as great. The singer could be mistaken for a rockabilly singer by his looks. He played guitar along with singing. Also did he have two microphones on his stand, one for a more distorted sound. The band rocked through their hour or performance. You could tell which songs were released singles, because when playing those the audience cheered out loud and sang along louder. Theory Of A Dead Man had great lights and an awesome sound. It was a lot of fun |
All bands talked a lot with the audience and were very thankful for the positive feedback they received from their fans.
