Yeah, I know, the album has been out for some time, but I just got the album.
Endofnumbers is an industrial project of Silkky. The story of his life and career
is quite interesting yet very emotional, so please read it yourself at his webpage
because I don’t really feel like quoting it here or summarize it here.
Let’s just say he’s gone through a lot in his life.
Anyways, so here is his debut album “Off White”. I received it in
this neat portfolio held in black, quite casual yet classic in a way. A nice
picture of Silkky is covering the front of it, and as I opened it I found the
CD, a two-pages biography, a summary about the album including contacts, a business
card and, of course, the album. It already looked quite depressive and deep.
The cover and back of the album, as well as the inside and even the CD itself
shows grey leaves or something that looks similar to that with grayish-white
print on it. And a “Parental Advisory” banner in the lower left corner
of the cover. As I started listening to the album it immediately reminded me
of Sexydeath. The album sounds quite industrial and mechanic. The second song
is very intoxicating with its distorted backing vocals. In the song “Nothing
Else” a girl is singing the bridge, a melancholic song yet very powerful.
As I listened on to the album it also reminded me a little bit of Vanity Beach
and FAQ because of the way it sounds… I was drifting away into my own dream
world or rather into the deepest shadows and issues of my mind, not only because
the lyrics are about depression, personal demons and God, reflecting everything
that hurts and dark places people hide. The album “Off White” is everything
else than white in a metaphoric way. It is a very deep and personal album with
lots of emotions and fears. Very impressive.
