It is Friday night and we went out to a metalcore show in Wiesbaden. Two amazing bands were playing there and we would be part of this night: Within The Ruins and Miss May I were rocking the stage in Wiesbaden. Both have just recently released albums and were now presenting them live.
Within the Ruins is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts. They are currently signed to E1 Music and Good Fight Music. The group has released five albums and three EPs.
The venue was filled with teenagers and metal fans. All eager to bang their heads and move along to the music that was about to come.
When Within The Ruins entered the stage, the dance floor was getting crowded. The music of the band was loud and intense. The band used quite some backing tracks to add some depth to their songs. Making them sound wider and with more detail. The audience loved it. Each band member was totally passionate about playing their tunes. It was almost as if they drifted off into their own world. Rocking their hearts out. The audience was moving along to the music. Singing and shouting along to the lyrics and even forming a circle pit for a brief period of time.
Within The Ruins played for a little over thirty minutes and left after a great performance. Now it was time for Miss May I.
Miss May I is an American metalcore band from Troy, Ohio. Formed in 2007, they signed to Rise Records in 2008 and released their debut album, “Apologies Are for the Weak” through the label while the members were still attending high school. The album reached 76 on the Billboard 200, No. 29 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers, and No. 66 on Top Independent Albums. The band has also had some of their material featured in big name productions; the song “Forgive and Forget” is featured on the Saw VI Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, and their song “Apologies Are for the Weak” is included in the video game Saints Row: The Third.
Now the audience was trying to get as close to the stage as they could. To soak up every motion and every second of the performance. The audience could sing along to all the songs, and they did. Miss May I played old and new songs. Letting the audience sing the choruses, thanking them between the songs for having come out.
The band had told the audience how their trailer had been stolen about a week ago, with all their gear and merchandise, and how the dates of the tour were on the line. But Within The Ruins were happy to share the equipment and instruments so Miss May I was able to continue the tour.
This made the show tonight even more special. The audience and band bonded over that and made the show even more intimate. Miss May I played for about one hour. Pouring their hearts and thoughts out to everyone that was here tonight. The audience loved it and cheered big time after each song.
It was a well spent Friday night with some amazing bands.
