24-11-2007 Ashcorn

Venue: Viernheim(Germany)
By: Nina Mende

The “seed” of Ashcorn from Italy was born in 2000 when Miles (guitar) and Ronnie (drums) met each other and decided to create a band together. The line up during the years has had many changes until 2002 when the band was completed with the entrance of Dave on bass guitar and Sofia on lead vocals.

In the beginning of 2003 a new member joined the band in order to improve the sound with programming and synthesizers: so Nails (also a guitar player) made his entry and Ashcorn was officially born. With this line up the band in 2004 recorded their first CD “X-Spleen-8” and started to show their music to the underground audience.

During the first half of 2006 Ashcorn changed their singer and Tommy joined
the band. With Tommy the band began writing new songs and in the autumn they
entered the New Frontiers Studio of Rovigo/Italy (with the known sound engineer
Ugo Bolzoni) to record a new album.

At the moment the band is looking for a label to publish their new album (working
title “Visions for Your Instinct”). They also started a collaboration
  with “ALKEMIST FANATIX” management group.

On November 24, 2007 the band were to play their first gig outside Italy, precisely
in Viernheim/Germany. And this was where I was at.

It took place in a gym next to a High School. Many underaged kids were there
at the show as well. But it was still very crowded. Ashcorn is actually a quite
unknown band here in Germany, so it was really amazing that everybody enjoyed
and loved their show, banged, moshed and whatever else you do at a metal show.
Really great to see that they were such a success here. Ashcorn played for about
45 minutes, and even performed two more songs as encore because the audience
wanted them to play more. For the song “Autumn Leaves” Chris from
Malvena (an Italian psychedelic band) came up on stage to join Tommy on the
vocals. My favorite song of the night I guess. But the whole performance was
great, because Ashcorn made the audience move and it was just such a friendly
atmosphere in the gym. After the show I could watch another thing that really
surprised me: So many people almost storming the merch stand of Ashcorn to buy
merch and get it signed by the band, taking pictures with them and so on. A
great night. I am looking forward to their return next year.

And here is what Ashcorn played that night:
  Revolution Virus
  Post Atomic
  Vision 4 your Instinct
  Global Lie
  Autumn Leaves
  Webs in the Dark

Memories from the Future
Stranger
