RobinCosmos is not an unknown band for Tempelores. My colleague already wrote a review about their album before. This night they were having a show in the club On the Rocks in Helsinki.
The band, formed in 2003, brings folk rock, with jazz influences. Though, I would say that there is also a little wilder side on RobinCosmos. Singer/guitarist Mikko Laitinen plays his acoustic guitar like he is in a heavy metal band holding the coolest electric guitar ever. The rest of the band is quite calm on stage, so the eyes are all on the singer. The keyboard player stood in almost complete darkness, like he is not a part of the band, but at the same time he looked mysterious and got my attention by playing very well.
During the performance there were people who started dancing. The amount of people grew when more songs had been played. Though, I was a little surprised about some songs. The band mostly played songs which are quite similar, and
then as one of the last songs, there comes a song which sounds like an English version of a German schlager song. I did not like it. It does not fit in their repertoire and it seems like the audience does not really know how to respond on it either. They were all awaiting of what was about to happen.
Overall, a nice performance which entertained the audience.
