Hell City Glamours – Hell City Glamours

Releasedate: 03-11-2009; Label: Powerage Records
By: Lara Cappelli

Hell City Glamours is an Australian Rock band. They gained some attention after supporting Sebastian Bach (ex Skid Row singer) on his tour and now they have just released their fifth album, “Hell City Glamours”.

The cover of this album is quite banal, it’s basically the regular band photo in which the members take the attitude of the serious hairy rockers. But that is the proof you never have to judge a book, in this case a cd, by its cover.
It took me some time to get really interested in the listening of the album, maybe because the first songs are more monotonous respect the following ones, but once you get into the mood of the album you hardly get out of it. The catchy melodies and the powerful solos make the listening very enjoyable especially for those who love the early Aerosmith and Guns ‘N’ Roses style, which has clearly influenced the band. The actual thing that I appreciated about the whole album is that it isn’t something innovative, but still the songs have this kind of frantic refrain, especially “The Money” one, which gets really stuck in the listeners’ ear and hardly annoys.
Australia has been and still is the homeland of many great Rock bands and Hell City Glamours is surely one of them, these guys have some kind of old school influence that I really enjoyed.
