22-10-2009 Eskimo Joe

Supports: The Alexandria Quartet; Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

The venue was very crowded already for a Thursday night and many people were still waiting outside. This audience was not easy to fit into a cliché. It was people you don’t see much at concerts. But tonight everybody seemed to have come out to see Eskimo Joe perform.

Before them another band warmed up the audience though. A band from Norway called The Alexandria Quartet. Their music was very pure and personal. You could feel the connection between the band and the audience. The guys were shy but strong in their performance. The music was alternative and far away from mainstream. It felt real and familiar. The Alexandria Quartet highly appreciated every reaction of the audience and felt so blessed for such an audience. It was really touchy watching the Norwegians. The music was perfect to get your mind clear and your thoughts straight. The audience loved them.

Even more did the audience love Eskimo Joe. Eskimo Joe is an Australian rock band formed in East Fremantle, Western Australia in 1997. The band consists of vocalist and bassist Kavyen Temperley, drummer and guitarist Joel Quartermain and guitarist Stuart MacLeod. Everybody in the audience was a fan and could sing along to even the oldest songs of the guys. The band talked a lot with the audience and did many jokes. Eskimo Joe was surprised by the great reactions and warm receptions of the audience as well. The music was touchy and alternative as well. The atmosphere got even more familiar and private. Closer to the end of the show Eskimo Joe played a couple covers. Everybody sang along loudly to these pieces. The band also came back for an encore. The show lasted for about 90 minutes. It was a wonderful and very chilled night out at Nachtleben on this Thursday evening.
