12-09-2009 Rock am Fichtenwald

Location: Vöhringen (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

In the middle of nowhere nearby Stuttgart, there was a festival called “Rock am Fichtenwald”. It was Friday and Saturday from 10pm on. Unfortunately I could only go on Saturday.

As we arrived there were quite many people waiting outside who later all came into the tent and filled it up a lot.

The first band of the night was Crekko. I have never heard of them before, so I was quite excited how they would be. Crekko is a German rock band with a little bit of metal and they really rocked. The three guys gave their everything and the audience appreciated it. They were surprisingly good. Crekko didn’t pay for too long, but in the time they played Crekko didn’t stand still for a second. They head banged and animated everybody to go along, which they did. The songs were in English. It was not too crowded just but filling up.
Next band was our four favorite Hamburgers: 4lyn. Many young girls were up front now. The cheering was loud but also more high pitched compared to before. 4lyn played old and new songs, but only had an hour to cramp it all in. The four boys seemed totally happy on stage and rocked it. As usual they didn’t stand still at all. Their fans were singing along loudly and jumped along as well. The wall of death was joined by many kids in the audience. The hour went by way to fast and here is how they filled it:
Intro Jam
Drama Queen
Hello
Not Like You
Pearls & Beauty
U know nothing
World’s Gone Crazy
Take It As A Compliment
Nostalgia
Lyn
Whooo

Last band was the Swedish band Clawfinger. Clawfinger is a rap metal band from Sweden and was one of the earliest bands to adopt this sound. Clawfinger is known for aggressive but melodic music and tackling political and anti-racist themes in their songs. They didn’t stand still for a second either. The audience was moshing and mopving around, very fast the front row was cleared of girls, and only guys were there shouting. The band came very close to their fans and rocked it big time. The mix between rap and metal was quite interesting to watch. They jumped around like hoppers and head banged like metal people do. It was intense to watch. The audience was totally into it and along with the music. The entire festival ground seemed to be on it. And the band just kept on going. Clawfinger put up an awesome show. A short and little but great festival.

Thanks to everybody.
