Dawa is a formation from Austria playing Pop Rock/ Folk. This year the band came with a new album called “This Should Work” which is out now.
Mix and match with Dawa. You can play around with the album cover to make it to your likings a bit, which is something you will get yourself occupied with even before you managed to put on the cd. As an album it does not impress at first time listening. It’s calm, even a bit depressing while the autumn season is not officially here yet. We are still fighting for the last bit of summer happiness before gloomy melancholic autumn afternoons are the centre of our life. So, it is not love at first sight with Dawa. Do you get into the mood eventually, yes, when you embrace the sometimes a bit minimalistic approach of them. It does hold a kind of purity that makes it special for a listener.
Altogether it makes a good album to listen to, but I think we leave it laying around for a while now. We are simply not in the mood for this type of songs yet. Give it a month and then we are there with our cup of tea, a blanket and something nice to eat on the couch, while rain is pooring outside thinking about how dark the world is and such while melancholical sounds of Dawa bring the feel -good in.
