Your Favorite Enemies is a Canadian band you might have heard of before at myspace and maybehave seen one or the other YFE-communities. When Alex Foster (vocals), Jeff Beaulieu (guitar), Sef (guitar), Ben Lemelin (bass), Miss Isabel (vocals and keys) and Charles Moose Allicy (drums) got together to form Your Favorite Enemies in 2006, they decided to manage every single aspect of the band’s career based on their community values and their “do it yourself” attitude.
They now have an album released which is called “Love is a Promise Whispering Goodbye”. The album includes seven songs and three videos. Four of the seven songs are acoustic versions, but only one of the acoustic versions also exists as regular version on this album. The other songs are all different. As I listened to it for the first time I though of 12Stones, the sound and the voice is similar. Your favourite Enemies also includes a female singer who sings not the main voice though, but more the backing vocals. In the acoustic versions you can hear a lot of piano. The songs are going straight in your head, especially “Little Sister” is a song that I caught myself singing along to a lot. “Open Your Eyes” somehow burnt the phrase with the Jesus in my head. So this album is quite catchy. Listening to this album you think this is a major band supported by a big label, but they aren’t.
The video to “Open Your Eyes” is very beautiful and great to watch. The live video suffers of all the red light used on stage but gives you a great impression of their live qualities. The last video includes a short interview and a sort of European tour diary, closing with a live snipped.
