P.T.S.D (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is something you usually not really want to have. In this review though, I am talking about a band which named themselves that way. They come from Italy and “Burepolom” is their first release.
They actually formed the band in 2005, but had some experience with their former band Voltage. Musically, P.T.S.D is a melodic metal band. Flirting with Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral for a Friend, Linkin Park, Korn and Trivium, but also Charon and Katatonia. Diverse touches to create a completely new act. The refreshing sound of the band comes forward from the first moment you put the album on. Energetic riffs make them sound like (heavy) chart material.
Listening to the entire album might give a bit of an overkill though. Somehow the songs all have the same vibe and atmosphere and I sometimes wonder if I accidentally pushed the repeat button. After the ten songs of the album, I heard a band I certainly like, but I am not sure if I would listen to the full cd that often.
With this being said, I start to wonder how this band will do live. Can vocalist Henry Guy keep up with the intense vocals while playing a festival gig for example. “Burepolom” sounds perfectly mastered, but how will they do live? Future will tell.
