Silverstein – Misery Made Me Deluxe

Releasedate: 07. April 2023
Label: UNFD

I scream Silverstein! After the 2022 release of “Misery Made Me”, here is the deluxe version of this brilliant masterpiece. Almost a year later – well, eleven months and one day to be precise. But lets step back for a second and ponder about Silverstein: The Canadian rock band was founded in 2000. Since then, the band has released eleven full length studio albums and countless tours in those well over twenty years of band history.

Now, on to the album. “Misery Made Me Deluxe” comes with eighteen songs and last for almost one hour. The predecessor was eleven songs long. So this deluxe version has seven more songs to rock out to. Those seven consist of two brand new tracks, one orchestral version, two acoustic versions and two live versions.

The first half of the album, which also was the main part of the previously released “Misery Made Me” is filled with energetic and powerful songs with rhythms that will pull you off your chair and cause your adrenaline level to rise. Most choruses are made to be shouted along to and the melodies are catchy and will get stuck in your head. You can hear the blood, sweat and tears, as well as the passion and joy in each note. And the best: Silverstein are infecting you with it. While listening to the songs on “Misery Made Me”, you will feel every inch of you be filled with this passion and good vibes, the music spreads. The songs are about every day life and its struggles, so you will easily be able to relate to all of them.

The two new songs are “Poison Pill” and “Stitches”.While the previous song “Misery” was much slower and calm in comparison, “Poison Kill” is a lot rougher and tougher again. “Stitches” is a catchy rock song that almost touches pop rock. Certainly, both songs match up perfectly with the previous part of the album. Furthermore, “Mary (Orchestral)” adds quite a melancholic depth to the song. It sure digs deep. And finally, the two acoustic songs “Don’t Wait Up” and “Poison Pill” shine a different light onto these two songs and the final two new additions “Bankrupt” and “It’s Over” give you an insight of how intense the band can be live.

“Misery Made Me Deluxe” is a brilliant album with a great set of extra songs compared to the previously released “Misery Made Me” and is absolutely worth revising and listening to over and over again. Silverstein did it again: They created highly addictive music that ignites a spark deep within you and lets the fire grow until it fills you up entirely. Simply brilliant. This album is a gift of music. Go check it out. And while you’re at it: Make sure to check out Silverstein live when they hit a club close to you. They are just as brilliant live!
