Supports: Late Night Venture; Venue: Club Meander, Amsterdam (The Netherlands)

In a small club in Amsterdam, Netherlands two bands united and entwined their powers to show Europe their music. Late Night Venture (Denmark) and Utopium (France), both indie rock bands, played tonight in club Meander as it being a part of their European tour.

First band to hit the stage was Late Night Venture. Their music reminded me to the Finnish band Rubik from the first moment on. But where Rubik chooses to be a little more up tempo, Late Night Venture takes it a little slower, with more highlights on the instrumental part. Melodic chapters and dramatic dreams take over the venue, which was not that filled, though. I guess that mostly had to do with the fact that the starting time of this evening was quite early for a Saturday evening. The stage appearance of the band fits the music and made a good addition to the show. The band is working on a new album; you can read more about that in the interview I had with them right before the show started.

A few more people dropped by, when Utopium was about to start their set. This band, coming from France, makes music close to Late Night Venture, but puts more stress on the instrumental part of music. When the vocals come in you can expect a harsher sound. The stage appearance of this band was surprising. Their singer mostly had his eyes on the ground, looking a bit shy, while their bassist was clearly enjoying his time on stage. The band built up their set list in such a way that they ended with the most energetic songs building up to the highlight.
Their upcoming album “Doubleplusgood” will release this year.
