Grey Daze formed in 1993 in Phoenix, Arizona, started by vocalist Chester Bennington and drummer Sean Dowdell, who were introduced by a mutual friend of the two. The band also featured guitarist Jason Barnes and Bassist Mace Beyers. They separated in 1998. But almost twenty years later, in 2017, Chester announced that Grey Daze would come back.
They would remaster and re-release some of their gems. That same year the recording for this project began, but was abruptly put on ice by the tragic of Chester’s passing. His wife and family, as well as the remaining members of Grey Daze, insisted on finishing what they once started and honor Chester. So here is “Amends” by Grey Daze.
“Amends” comes with eleven songs, lasting for forty minutes in total. Eleven songs that pierce your heart instantly. The voice of Chester sounds so strong and raw, it is impossible to pay attention to anything other than the songs itself. Like a magnet, the songs attract all your attention. Raw emotions are packed into the songs, a whole lot of them. The distorted guitars add to the strength of each song, adding some fire and intensity to each and every one.
“Amends” is an impressive release. One that will cause your heart to burn under the raw power it spreads. This is the perfect album to get lost in while listening. So check it out and sink into the music of Grey Daze with the amazing voice of Chester Bennington.
