Venue: Bourbon Street Blues Club

EdibleRed is a band from New York City, which is currently on a tour in the Netherlands. They were playing in Bourbon Street Blues Club in Amsterdam when I came over to see them. Five sets was their mission and that basically means they played all night long. Was Amsterdam ready for EdibleRed, or maybe ask the question is EdibleRed ready for Amsterdam?
The band released their debut album “Welcome to My Bad Behaviour” in May 2007 and of course they played some of the songs live, as well as some cover songs.
Describing the music of EdibleRed might be a risky task, since you can hear a lot of different influences in their music. Indie rock, mixed with all good things of musical history.
In total, the band reminds me to a small Japanese band called User of A Common Name (former User) which was quite popular in northern Europe in 2003.
Their performance was quite calm, not really a surprise, knowing they have to be there all night long, but the audience reacted quite well on it. When vocalist Colette asks them to sing along, they sing along. They got some people dancing as well.
During the night I saw quite some people buying cd’s and adding their email address to the mailing list. EdibleRed seem to have done a great job this night and as they announced: They want to come back to the Netherlands.
I guess Amsterdam was ready for EdibleRed and the way around.
