Support: Slick’s Kitchen; Venue: Nachtleben, Frankfurt (Germany)

After writing about their debut album I was quite excited to see them live.
Listening to the album gave me an idea of what they might sound live, but that
they are so great live, well, I didn’t quite expect that. And as Captain
Poon (vocals and guitar) also apologized by saying the gig the day before had
been better I was really stunned: How could it be any better? No, they didn’t
pay me for saying that, I really mean it!!! Did I mention who I am talking about
yet? No? Oh, sorry. I am talking about Bloodlights from Oslo/Norway, of course.
But they weren’t the only ones to rock the stage that evening: Their opening
act was Slick’s Kitchen from Germany. Four guys rocking the stage with
a dark and smoky voice. The audience enjoyed their performance. The singer had
some of his hair spiked up like devil’s horns. They played a Motörhead
cover and had underwear hanging on their drum set. Slick’s Kitchen were
good.

by now, a quite mixed audience. Bloodlights is a Norwegian band who released
their debut album “Bloodlights” on November 16th last year, a great
album which was rotating in my CD player quite many times. Now I finally got
to see them live and was amazed how great they were live. Everybody had his
name on his amp and the drummer on his drum set, a very nice idea. They played
most songs of the album, talked a lot with the audience and were totally friendly.
The very powerful and energetic performance was animating everybody to sing
and rock along. Many people could actually sing along. They played one totally
new song called “Danger Zone” and two cover songs including an encore
of two songs. I so can’t wait to see them again. This is what they played:
Bullshit on your mind
Where the stars don’t shine
Hammer and the wheel
Against the flow
New rose
Danger Zone
Rain on a sunny day
Easy target
Bloodlights
One eye open
Bald and outrageous
As encore they played:
Silly thing
Addiction
