Formosa is a German hard rock band. Formed in 2015, their aim is to deliver the catchy and sexy riffs and to entertain their audience. After having released their debut album in 2016, they are back with another full-length album called “Sorry for Being Sexy”.

“Sorry for Being Sexy” comes with ten songs and delivers us a mixture of hard rock, sleaze rock and will also take you back to the 80s a bit. So rock’n’roll is the main sound of the band. That being said, I always expect a bit of spark and soul and especially when it comes to rock’n’roll. I would want the sound to just have the right kick and the right vibes to have the full rock’n’roll experience. With this album, though, I didn’t feel that with the first spin. It might be the first song “Bad Boys”, where I didn’t find the lyrics that original (hey the first impression is important!), or the technical perspective. The arrangements (the guitars, drumming, vocals) sounded somehow familiar and too simple. Well… it might also be that I am used to too complex songs. So sometimes simple might also be good and enjoyable depending on what kind-of listener you are and what you prefer.

On the other hand, I have been listening to the album for a while now and I gotta say the music is catchy and entertaining. One thing I can definitely say is that the lyrics will stay on your mind and this album might end up being one of those entertaining party albums that you can enjoy when you wanna enjoy some rock’n’roll. The riffs are also quite the ear candy. So in this sense, give the album a bit more spins and don’t take it too seriously. I guess one thing the band wants to deliver is good times, some humor and interesting and fun concepts (as with most pieces in rock’n’roll). There is surely some aspects that the band can work on such a bit more ‘kick’, a bit more originality and maybe a bit diversity. Nevertheless, despite my thoughts, I think that those of you who like hard rock and who wanna enjoy some rock’n’roll will definitely like “Sorry for Being Sexy”. The band is also currently on tour in Europe so catch them if you can!
