Suppports: Sturm und Drang, Stam1na; Schlachthof, Wiesbaden (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
Tonight I was at the Schlachthof in Wiesbaden to see three Finnish bands: Stam1na,
Sturm und Drang and Apocalyptica.
The first one playing tonight was Stam1na, a Finnish band singing in Finnish.
They speak quite a lot of German, at least did they tonight when they didn’t speak Finnish. Stam1na play metal, the audience enjoyed the 30 minutes with them a lot. Stam1na are very funny guys, and very talkative. I enjoyed their 30 minutes
and will definitely keep an eye on them.
Next band tonight was Sturm und Drang, a very young band from Finland, and we were quite shocked and amused as we saw how young they really were. But the boys of Sturm und Drang are definitely talented and I am sure that they will
stick around in the music business for some time. They sang in English, but
didn’t talk as much as Stam1na did. Sturm und Drang were also still a bit insecure on stage, but with some practise and more gigs they will surely get better with that. And they moved the masses which is a good sign.
Up last were the famous and popular Apocalyptica. I don’t think I have to tell you much about them. They had a great performance and nice light effects. Eicca and Perttu kept on running around and animating the audience to clap and move,
jump and sing. It didn’t even matter that Apocalyptica didn’t have any vocalists along, as usual, because the audience was singing along loud enough.
Some of the songs Apocalyptica played, were: Bittersweet, Life Burns, Nothing else matters, Seek and destroy, I’m not Jesus and Enter Sandman. The second encore and very last song for the night was Seemann. All in all it was a great
night.
