Date: 24-08-2007, venue: Gloria, Helsinki (Finland)

During the week, some inhabitants from Helsinki told me that seeing Velcra on a bigger stage would be more interesting then seeing them on a small stage as Lux, where they did their album release gig. Tonight Velcra was about to play in Gloria, which is definitely a lot bigger than Lux. It was not completely filled in Gloria, but that might have today with “the night of the arts” which was going on in Helsinki, which means that people are hanging everywhere on the streets. Still some people came to see Velcra.
Within a few minutes I could only conclude that those people were damn right about seeing Velcra on a bigger stage. More activity going on and the complete show, lights, arrangements, video background etc, seems to be made for stages like this. In total it gives the show the best rewards. Just as in Lux, a slow song as start. During the show the tempo keeps going up until the perfect dance rhythm is there. Finns might be a little shy, but still there are people dancing out there. Because that is what the music does to you. Highlight from this night was the song “New recruit” for me. This song made the most impression and was a pleasure seeing it here. The lyrics and music came clear to me and the mission of Velcra is probably fulfilled by that.
Unfortunately the show came to an end and even after the encore, I still have the perfect dance mood. So, for you out there who still have not bought the latest album (Hadal) from Velcra, I highly recommend you to get it as soon as possible.
