Before we can tell you about the show of Beseech, a little time travel is needed. In 2006 in this town the band played a farewell concert with the lineup closest to what we saw today. We were attending. So, to see the return was not a question, but a given.

Future. Present. Past. had just been released a week earlier, bringing different ages and eras together. As we enter the theater, we see that it may be a less conventual choice for the local crowd, when it comes to a metal band. For a Dutchy perhaps a bit more common seeing various Dutch acts taking the theater stages to heart. As the intro is rolling the audience finds their seats and it does not take long before the setting is embraced.
With the band taking the stage, the focus quickly shifts to the music. The set naturally draws from different periods of Beseech’s history, with the newly released material sitting alongside songs that have been part of their story for years.

Early in the set, “Bitch” sets things in motion. An audience pleaser, it quickly draws people in. Tracks like “Higher Level” bring smiles to people’s faces, while ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” is one that simply cannot be left out of a night like this. Naturally, the audience responds strongly to that one. When looking at what stood out to us tonight from the older material, however, it was “Between The Lines” that made the biggest impression. Passionate and powerful, the song feels almost as if it was made for this theatre setting.
The newer material blends remarkably well with the older songs. Rather than feeling like a separate chapter inserted into the set, the songs from Future. Present. Past. naturally become part of the larger Beseech story.
As the end of the set leaves the audience yearning for future adventures, there is still more to experience in the lobby. Besides the available merchandise, a special Beseech drink awaits. A fitting way to toast to a new chapte. giving everyone a chance to raise a glass and blur the edges of the outside world, while remaining in the atmosphere of the evening a little longer.
