Mentioned as arena rockers, Rebels Opera are actually taking their very first steps to expand their footprint, attempting to reboot the hard & heavy engine fueled by the legacy of AC/DC with their debut, Call Of The Night.

Across its ten tracks, the album reveals a surprisingly elastic musical core. A prime example is the vocal delivery – mutable and fluid, sounding like a showcase of variations of forthcoming mastery rather than a fixed, one-note style.

The tracklist naturally splits into standout moments that define the record’s dual nature. In the mid-tempo landscape, “Love Like A Live Wire” catches you off guard with an low-toned section right in the middle of the song, adding a layer of gritty intimacy. It balances well against the emotional weight of “Didn’t Wanna Write This Song”, showing the band’s ability to handle heavy textures. However, the real heavy-hitter is “The Drifter”. It creates a gazing, atmospheric veil where raw, high-octane rock meets a dense, hypnotic wall of sound.

When it comes to pure energy, the band doubles down on classic tropes. The title track, “Call of The Night”, serves as a direct homage to the AC/DC school of driving riffs, rather than intentionally leaning into any cliché city-calling themes. This straightforward energy carries over to high-octane anthems like “Surfing With The Angels”, the unapologetic swagger of “She’s So Rock n’ Roll”, and the soaring, melodic lift of “Dream, Dreamer”.

To be honest, despite the promotional duties, it’s a pretentious release. Yet, being both youthful and old-fashioned, Rebels Opera brilliantly revive that specific flavor of American rock from around 2007-reminiscent of the Dirty Penny and Buckcherry eras.
