Nomad – Oxygen

Nomad – Oxygen

Releasedate: 27-03-2026

Hailing from Kortrijk, Belgium, Nomad are a six-piece post-metalcore outfit blending crushing heaviness with cinematic atmospheres and modern metalcore dynamics. Released in March 2026, Oxygen marks the band’s ambitious full-length debut and immediately establishes them as one of the more promising newcomers from the Belgian underground.

From the opening notes of “Breath,” Nomad demonstrate that they are far more than another breakdown-driven metalcore act. Their songwriting thrives on contrasts, seamlessly shifting between suffocating walls of riffs, haunting synth textures and surprisingly melodic passages. The dual-guitar attack provides plenty of technical flair without becoming self-indulgent, while the keyboards add depth and atmosphere rather than simply filling space. Vocalist Mathijs Soreyn delivers an emotionally charged performance, alternating between aggressive screams and more restrained moments that perfectly fit the album’s overarching themes of despair, resilience and self-discovery.

One of Oxygen‘s greatest strengths is its sense of pacing. Tracks like “Desert of Woe” and “Opio” hit with relentless intensity, while songs such as “Feather” and “Sun” allow the listener a brief moment to breathe before the album descends back into darker territory. The production remains clear despite the dense arrangements, giving every instrument room to shine. Although the record occasionally leans heavily on familiar modern metalcore tropes, Nomad compensate with strong songwriting, memorable melodies and an impressive ability to create genuine atmosphere. The result is an album that feels cohesive from beginning to end instead of merely presenting a collection of standalone tracks.

With Oxygen, Nomad have delivered a confident debut that successfully balances aggression, melody and cinematic ambience. It is an album that rewards repeated listens, revealing new details with each spin. Fans of modern post-metalcore, progressive metalcore and atmospheric heavy music should certainly keep an eye on this Belgian six-piece. If this release is any indication of what’s to come, Nomad are well on their way to establishing themselves as a force within the European metal scene.
