Black Lung is an American stoner doom / psychedelic rock band. Their 5th studio album “Forever Beyond” is out via Magnetic Eye Records. “Forever Beyond” is a special album as many songs are reactions to the historic political upheaval in the USA, dealing lyrically with the lure of fascism, blind nationalism, and corporate oligarchy.

“Forever Beyond” offers the ticket for a very fine interdimensional travel! The harmony of the doom/psychedelia and energizing melodies will set you in the mood right away. I especially loved how the band travels between different genres with hints of even post-rock and rock’n’roll/blues sounds. Combined with the fine production, these elements make “Forever Beyond” an ear candy. The dynamic pace – at times slow & atmospheric, and at other times fast – does not leave one dull moment.

Putting the sound of the album aside, lyrics and themes are another highlight. The contrast between the energizing sound and the dystopian themes, that reflect the situation in the US at the moment, are very well-crafted and interesting. This is a nice twist throughout “Forever Beyond” and will surprise the listeners with more listening and digging in.

“Forever Beyond” is simply fantastic and delivers some fine psychedelic and political sounds. Recommended to the lovers of this genre and to those who want to wander away. Kudos to Black Lung especially for using their music to be vocal about the current matters.
