Khroma – Khroma

Khroma – Khroma

Releasedate: 17-10-2025
Label: Inverse Records

Khroma, an electro/alternative metal band from Helsinki, Finland, will release their fourth studio album “Khroma” on 17 October 2025 via Inverse Records. The band has been active since 2010, and their upcoming self-titled record follows “Ex Nihilo” (2021).

Khroma’s style remains rooted in heavy electronic and alternative metal, but on “Khroma” they seem to push further into hybrid territory—incorporating elements of drum’n’bass, trip-hop, machine-like industrial and cinematic soundscapes.
The vocals by Riku Rinta-Seppälä continue to shift between whispering, screaming, growling, etc. combining aggressive and more atmospheric moments.

The band released a couple of singles running up to the release of this album. These show you the diverse sides of this release. “Abattoir (Chosen)” is heavier, more aggressive with apocalyptic samples and down-tuned grooves, giving a sense of urgency. “Carnivorous” shows complexity: it mixes chaotic patterns, urban trip hop influences and sci-fi-flavored sound layers, and is among the more adventurous tracks. “Catch The Whip” offers catchiness in addition to groove, showing Khroma’s attempt to balance accessibility with mood.
Another track on the release which caught the attention upon the first spin are “No Consequences”, it seem to carry a lot of power and while the track is building you feel getting yourself prepared to let it all out.
Instrumentally, the band seems tighter and more confident. The interplay of guitars and synthesizers, plus electronics, seems more integrated than on earlier releases. The production appears more polished, allowing both heavy hits and quieter atmospheric passages to shine without one drowning out the other.

“Khroma” by Khroma is shaping up to be a mature step forward for the band: experimentation with electronic subgenres but never stray to far from what we have known before from this band, tighter production, and vocal variety suggest growth beyond what they presented on “Ex Nihilo”. While the band does not abandon its aggressive roots, they seem to be aiming for more texture and contrast. For listeners who appreciate alternative metal with industrial, electronic, and cinematic overtones, this album promises to deliver. It’s up to the listener to invest some time into it and have it grow upon them, for Khroma never comes easy.
