The Italian rock quartet Mad Dogs formed in 2016. Having two releases, this September the band introduced the third, “The future is now”.
Looking at the cover, you’d expected something a lot garage with raw voice and poor guitars, but if only you push the play button, you’d listen to The Hellacopters on its best. Kidding for sure, but the truth is pretty close.
The driving opener “The Future Is Now” presents all the best. The rest of the album is spinning around, but the amplitude is wide enough. For example, the melodic “It’s Not Late Tonight” surprised with guitar solo. Another sample, “Black Sheep”, shows the good work of backing vocals, that murmuring “swaaay” during refrain. The one-note keyboards part, that cutting the nerve, shadowed the crying guitar in “No Way To Come Back”. On the contrary, “No More Lies”, full of drive, reminds that rock n’ roll is suitable for dancing. Also, the band added elements of shoegaze and made “Switch Up My Time” absolutely down pouring.
Marked as action rock the material accurately measured, so no single wrong note given. The kind of music, that Mad Dogs dived in, never out of style. Maybe a lil bit polished, but still shining bright.
