Destroy Humanity – Where Is Your God Now

Releasedate: 22-02-2025
Label: self release

Destroy Humanity is a Belgian trio hailing from the small town of Beerzel, just south of Antwerp. Comprised of Koen Vlerick (vocals, guitar), Sander Bellekens (bass), and Thierry Verstraeten (drums), the band delivers Groove Metal heavily influenced by the likes of Lamb of God, Machine Head, and Pantera.

The album kicks off with “Black Pyramid”, laying down a heavy groove that immediately undercuts any expectations of restraint. In “Cats of Ulthar”, the tempo accelerates sharply, spotlighting Verstraeten’s unbridled drumming. There’s a palpable sense of momentum built by the trio — especially during the climactic groove from Vlerick.

“Parasite” provides a bit more spotlight for Bellekens’s bass, with Vlerick’s guttural vocals adding intense texture. It remains powerful without sacrificing musical clarity whereas “King of the Ashes” is taking a quieter acoustic approach in its opening before erupting into a fuller, darker groove.

The title track, “Where Is Your God Now”, is perhaps the album’s standout. It begins calmly but changes into a raw, furiously energetic outburst. The transition is smooth yet explosive, and the chorus hits with brute intensity, combining groove and message effectively. Closing with “Prophet of Sin”, the trio ends the album tightly with another assured display of their grooviest sound .

Are we hearing something we haven’t heard before? No, the band is deep sourced with their inspiration. However, “Destroy Humanity’s Where Is Your God Now” shows that the trio operates with tight cohesion. The album clearly shows an evolved formation and will bring us some nice moments if they cross your path live.
