Death SS – The Entity

Death SS – The Entity

Releasedate: 09-05-2025
Label: Lucifer Rising

A band like Death SS needs no introduction. The horror metal legends have been rocking it since 1977 and the new album “The Entity” is out this month via Lucifer Rising.

“The Entity” is heavily inspired by Aleister Crowley, as well as characters of writers James Hogg and Robert Louis Stevenson, who explore the dark side of mankind. The album also includes figures such as Jack the Ripper, Walter Sickert, Cemetery and others, ultimately linking to Death SS’ history.

“The Entity” delivers just the perfect dose of horror rock and heavy metal. The tunes are catchy, Steve Sylvester’s vocals are powerful and the beats will get you headbanging and dancing. Considering that this is a concept album, there is this sinister but fun tone throughout the record and you will get curious about what lies beneath the lyrics and the overall theme. I especially like the mix of faster songs like ‘The Whitechapel Wolf’ and ‘Hell is Revealed’ and the slower songs such as ‘Love Until Death’, giving the nice diversity to the album.

Apart from the sound, the band impresses like they always do with their overall image, horror and occult concepts that they are presenting. In addition, the production is also top-notch thanks to Steve Sylvester and Tom Dalgety.

“The Entity” is definitely one of the highlights of the year. It’s fun, pays its tributes and is candy to my ears. Recommended to the lovers of this genre!
