Intro
Temple Fang is a Dutch psych rock band. Formed in 2018, the band started hitting their stride in 2019 with, amongst many others, two highly acclaimed Roadburn shows and appearances at many festivals and clubs across Europe. With some line-up changes and surviving COVID with many releases, the band is back with their latest release “Lifted from the Wind”, out now via Stickman Records. Temple Fang considers this record to be their true debut album.
Prepare your senses… “Lifted from the Wind” is a masterpiece from the beginning to the end. Ranging from classic rock to prog/psychedelic rock, Temple Fang offers us the fantastic mix of tunes that will take you on a nice psychedelic journey. The record feels like one big piece divided into different sensations and emotions. The general pace of the album is chill and as a matter of fact, the word ‘tranquillity’ comes to my mind when I think of “Lifted from the Wind”. There is a state of calmness and joy in all the different tunes and beats, ever-changing with the ups and downs. Yet, the general state of the album is just calm, where Temple Fang invites us to let it flow and enjoy it all.
It will not be fair to mention the fantastic piece ‘Once’ while talking about this record. The longest song in the album, ‘Once’ forms the essence of this record and shows us the commitment and the passion that Temple Fang has. The vocals, the guitars, the drums and all the tunes intertwine perfectly with each other as the song’s pace changes from slow to fast to slow, leaving us -again- in a state of calm but dynamic flow. This song is what I would call a psychedelic journey!
Outro
“Lifted from the Wind” is definitely one of my favorites of this year. It is rare that I get to enjoy a psych rock release as a whole. Kudos to the guys for their flow, creativity and incorporating their inspirations. Definitely must-have for the psych rock lovers out there.
