Psyclon Nine – And Then Oblivion

Psyclon Nine – And Then Oblivion

Releasedate: 21-03-2025
Label: Metropolis Records

Psyclon Nine is an American industrial metal band. Formed in 2000 in San Francisco, CA, the band is known for their unique mix of electronic, industrial, black metal, deathcore, trap and ambient music. They are back after three years with a brand new release called “And Then Oblivion”, out via Metropolis Records.

Psyclon Nine delivers us nine songs and a “hidden track” at the end. You will feel the suspense and sinister atmosphere right away, kicking you in the face (and ears). The way they mix different genres – from black metal to trap – is quite fascinating and offer us a diverse palette within the blackened industrial sound that they are known for. The overall production and arrangements are well-made, making “And Then Oblivion” flow. The songs will make you dance, especially electronic/industrial fans will love to dance to this record.

You might wonder what the surprise twist is at the end.. In the song “Hidden Track”, I advise you to be patient throughout the whole track and wait towards the end. So far, I personally couldn’t figure out the meaning behind this track but maybe some of you will. Either way, I liked this nice twist, which matches well with the character of the record.

Despite the diverse palette this album brings and the catchy songs, I felt like “And Then Oblivion” doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It is definitely a solid album, but not one of those records that will blow your mind. Especially recommended to the fans of the band and the industrial genre in general.
