Midlife Crisis – 45 turns 33

Midlife Crisis – 45 turns 33

Releasedate: 07-02-2025
Label: Wild Kingdom

Twenty years ago Urkke T (Marislym) founded the side-project with the aim to play punk covers. He invited several well-known Swedish musicians like Dregen (Backyard babies, The Hellacopters), Robban Eriksson (The Hellacopters) and Måns P Månsson (The Maggots). Since then 4 EP was released, the last one in 2018. This year “the supergroup” Midlife Crisis made their first LP “45 turns 33”.

Technically, this record is compilation of all the stuff Midlife Crisis did in years. The band refreshed legacy of proto punk era. For example, they made covers for such bands as The Outsiders, Menace, The Avengers and P.F. Commando. Attempts of remade are pretty close to origins. Only one exception, which is harder and driving insanity, “Sick Of You” by The Users. The standard punk-declaration widened and narrowed in the opening track. Next masterpiece (yes) to be mentioned is “Cranked Up Really High” (origin Slaughter & The Dogs). By the way, the first Midlife Crisis EP named like this. Moving forward to the edited track “Samma sak”. The fact is, this U.K. Subs’ “The Same Thing” written in Swedish. Despite of that, I can’t say it’s secondary material. The mastery of all the members is impressive.

This time we have good stuff to remember and learn something new from bands making a mess in 1977. Not only when in midlife crisis.
