Releasedate: 16-02-2024 Label: Integral/Musikkoperatore
Last we heard from Bill Booth was a release with his mate Bill Troiani under the name of The Bills, but anno 2024 the man returns with a solo release. It is called “River Town” and it is available now.
When we mention that this release is a solo one, we mean it. Often we see a whole range of instruments being brought in by other players, but Bill here kept the majority of it by himself. A thing we like, for we can truly feel the intention of the artist coming through. An album full of bluesy Americana tracks that are often taken from life. Not all made us smile to much. “Chicken Coop” for example, is a track that we would not miss if it had not existed, but then there are some enjoyable ones as well.”Peltoma Avenue” has a bit more catch which suits the album for in general it is an album that you could expect if you heard the earlier release of The Bills.
The album radiates a strong connection with many classic names. According the info sheet Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler even. That is surely there, but Bill has also plenty of his own to put in. Above all, some stories going down his roots and that makes the whole stand on its own.
Bill Booth released a fine album, that will serve the Americana listener well.
