Einvigi is a Finnish post-black metal formation founded in 2014. The band released a few albums before and anno 2024 they release “Monokroma”.

We previously spoke with the frontman Petteri about this album in our Christmas series on youtube and now that the album is out we like to go into the album as we hear it.
The albums opens calmly with “Huoma” which gradually evolves towards a wilder soundscape while the song is guiding you into it. It is easy to follow the transition, an accessible sound.
Going towards “Tumman veden lapsi” the band comes closer towards the traditional Black Metal sound, but never refrain from having their own sound to that. An interesting mix of the ambiant, the melodic and the icy cold atmosphere one can have in Black Metal.

Title track “Monokroma” is bringing the melancholy to its highest level, the track has also been visualized in a video as well, but even without that, the feel of the track is a good summary of all you can find on the album.
The last part of the album is reserved for “Yksinäisen laulu” which exists out of three parts. The second part being a bit of stranger in the tracklist, providing a bit of a break, yet here you also see that the transition between the parts is done so flawlessly that you barely notice it.

This album is one that listens easily, it takes you by the hand and drags you down a journey. A little dream, a vacation from every days reality. Don’t we all deserve that vacation sometimes?!
