Releasedate: 2023 Label: Fastball Records
Rock formation Bodyguerra is named after a Spanish horse. Guido Stoecker is the one behind it and he gathered a band surrounding his vision for a modern rock formation. They are currently releasing their album called “Invictus” which follows up on their 2021 album “Fire and Soul”.
Perhaps the two new band members also contribute to a more stable sound. The drums are calmly brought in but not to subtle, which gives Bodyguerra the right kind of power. The energetic “Troublemaker” gets followed up by “Twillight” which has some catchiness to hold on to.
With a calmer track like “She Bop”, a cover song, they slow it down a bit. It looks like the more up tempo tracks suit Sturm a bit better though. With a track like “I Stop Listening To You” they come back to the more raw rock sound which works so well for them.
Altogether you can say you hear a lot of progress from this formation. A hardrock band that takes that 80s sounds along to 2023 and has a handful of easy to listen rock tracks for the listener to discover. A decent release to try.
