Finsterforst – Jenseits

Releasedate: 08 September 2023
Label: AOP Records

German pagan “black-forest” metal band Finsterforst is back with their latest EP “Jenseits”. The fans have waited a long time for an epic masterpiece and they are definitely in for a ride!

“Jenseits” has been a special one because the band created this masterpiece thanks to a successful crowfunding campaign. In addition, upon seeing the four parts, you might think that the EP consists of four songs but hey! The EP is actually one 40-min song divided into four parts. But don’t let this overwhelm you: Once you start this epic journey that is “Jenseits”, 40 minutes will fly by past and you will see that this is indeed one lengthy song! Plus, in the genre of pagan metal, this is not unheard of so this will be easy peasy for the classic pagan metal lovers.

What makes this EP stand out you may ask. Well, it is very well-orchestrated and arrangements as well as production is just excellent. “Jenseits” flows perfectly and there is a great balance between the clean/grow vocals and the instruments. In addition, we also experience that classic Finsterforst sound; choirs, accordeon just to name a few of the elements. You can tell that the guys put their heart and soul into this and delivered a perfect EP. As a fan of the band, this could be my favorite Finsterforst piece up-to-date even!

“Jenseits” is definitely recommended to lovers of pagan/folk metal and anyone who is a fan of those lengthy songs. Get it!
