Releasedate: 2023
Alwaid is a ‘female fronted’ Symphonic Metal band From France. The band released their debut in 2014 and in 2018 they returned with a follow up. This year the band is releasing “Twelve Daemons”, it is available now.
Since the previous release we have reviewed the band has gone through some line up changes and has now four members. Soundwise, think a bit of Epica, some Therion and Xandria. These bands are clearly hearable in their sound, Alwaid does not stray far from that. Since their previous release they did put a bit more of their own in the music we would say, so this release gives it a more unique identity.
The album as a whole could do with some more power, sometimes the tracks are dragging along a bit too much but when they go a bit more heavy they are certainly surprising us. Seems like a direction they could explore even more.
Tracks that jumped out most are “Chaos Into Numbers” and “The Philosopher’s Path” for they seem to have just a bit more.
It is good to see Alwaid is growing with this release. For the fans of Female Fronted Metal this is a fine release to check.
