Releasedate: 2023 Label: Fastball Music
Green Labyrinth has been formed in 2008 making Symphonic Metal, whereas anno 2023 the band is rather different. A quite different line up, a sound that is more progressive. They just released their album “ Sequences”
This second album comes quite some year after the release and although we cannot remember whether we heard the previous one, this album has not lost touch with the Symphonic side at all. Surely you can clearly hear the band is focusing more on the progressive side to come forward, but in the end, they have found a good ratio of both genres to set themselves out. The info we have given is to explain progressive as “ developing” or “ evolving”. Something we expect from every band bringing something new to us. The instrumental side of the album is pleasant to listen to, it has enough heaviness to beat up to the melodic side and the vocals of Seraina to make it step apart from being pop-chart material. The band is having a good idea of how to bring their own identity in it.
A good mix and interesting choices to make in the balance of different elements in their sound is on the basis of that all. It is a band that keeps your attention, even if the female voices isn’t your specific thing, which leads to a wide range of potential audience. Good release, that will please prog fans as well as the symphonic listeners.
