Releasedate: 2023 Label: Fastball Records
The Swiss Dirty Velvet is a rather young formation. The band got together in 2019 and this year they are releasing their debut album called “Far Beyond The Moon”.
Musically the band is drawing from a wide range of influences but a grungy touch is to be heard in all tracks of the release. The band has a commercial edge to them, having a catchy vibe in their sound. Lot’s of the songs stick in mind easily. A bit of Hole, a bit of Vice Squad for punk edge.
Where the band could still win is in finding a balance. The mix appears a bit flat, they could have made the whole a bit more expressive with a bit different production.
The album shows that Dirty Velvet is still learning so that is fine. They can take their time to explore their sound a bit and expand on what they have. To put some more refinement into it and then the picture will be much more complete. Let’s see what the future brings for them
