Releasedate: 24.02.2023 Label: Metalville
The Germany-based formation “Maerzfeld” founded in 2009, the first album “Tief” came to the world two years later. Through the decade the band dropped four records and the fifth “Alles anders” out this February via Metalville.
We start to listen records if we need something new to explore or re-listen old material with cosmetic additions. Time to know what the case and unbox the material that marks simply “rock”.
First of all, the album is not stereotypical (additionally, “alles anders” means “everything different”). In “Maerzfeld” case we have well-known tricks of industrial metal and lyrics in German.
The four of eleven tracks could be mentioned as key. There are: “Alles Anders”, “Keinen Sinn”, “Ich bin der Tod” and “Lange Nicht”. The opening and closing tracks are the best example of band’s mastery. “Keinne Sinn” is closer to what you expect of rock turned in industrial metal. My favorite one is “Ich bin der Tod” for its tempo and other good-for-ears things. Surprisingly, leading keyboards and melody in “Ich steige auf” sound a bit like “Queen” (I won’t mention the song, find out by yourself).
Stepping back I mention just random fact, there is another project with band-members titled “Stahlzeit”, which is huge “Rammstein”-tribute show. Escalating from making covers to discover own path is progress and, hopefully, the band found out the best one.
